I can't help myself.

I just have to apologize for the 'thai the knot' pun. I couldn't resist.

How to get to Railay Beach from Bangkok

It's not rocket science but there are a few different options.

The easiest and quickest way to get to Railay Beach from Bangkok starts with a flight to Krabi.

www.thaiair.com
has several flights daily for less than $100.

There is also a train from Bangkok that goes south to Surat Thani, where you can pick up a bus to Krabi or Ao Nang. It is supposed to be a beautiful journey. The schedule is at http://www.thairailwayticket.com

From Krabi you can catch a boat to Railay Bay-East (45 minutes) from the Khong Ka Pier for about 100baht. From the docks in Ao Nang you can catch a boat to Railay Bay-West (15 minutes) for 60 baht before dark and 100 baht after dark.

The bridge house is on the west side.

If you are feeling jet lagged and don't want to deal with it yourself the friendly staff at the Railay Beach Club will arrange to pick you up at the Krabi Airport (or other places) and bring you directly to the house for a very reasonable price of 1300 baht for up to 7 people. Let us know at least a week in advance and we will arrange this for you if you would like it.

The House and housing options

We have rented this house for our guests to enjoy from Sunday, April 5th - Sunday, April 12th.
http://www.thailandbeachhouse.com/ aka The Bridge House

It's actually a part of this commuity of homes www.raileibeachclub.com where they have about 30 homes on 20 acres with sea and cliff views. They are privately owned and run on their own generators. They also provide lots of great services such as personal chefs, airport pickups, kayak rentals, masseuses and other pampering.

The house sleeps about 14 people (at least in beds). It is actually four wings all connected. We don't really know if it can accomodate more people easily, or how strict the house people are about occupancy requirements. But wwe think that likely everyone that wants to stay there can. You just might have to get kind of cozy with some new friends, or sleep on a couch/lounge chair or on the deck.

It was first come, first served on promised beds in the house so for those of you who made your flight plans late, or can't live without airconditioning or 24 hour electricity, or just want to be outside of the fun house, here are some extra links to accomodation options nearby:

http://www.mykrabi.com/

There really is something for every budget in the area. My guidebook also recommends some more not quite backpacker but not real spendy spots suchas "Rapala Bungalows" and "Railay Highland Resort"

Even if you choose not to stay with us in the house we do hope that you will spend lots of time hanging out with us there, or elsewhere in the area over the course of the week. Please let us know whatever you decide.
